HYPE MY LATEST LOOK ON LOOKBOOK

Primary school years

I just remembered this song we had to learn for a concert, in grade 3...

''Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you
 They'll come to you!''

I stood right at the back row, because we were arranged from tallest to shortest. This made it less embarrassing for me when I forgot a word or two, which I must have done because I was smiling frantically at my mother in the audience.

We dressed up as the characters from the ''Jungle book''. I remember wearing a cheetah outfit (wish I had the pics to blog)

These are the days that bring me true happiness...*LOVELY MEMORIES*

MAGIC MOMENTS

These are a combination of all the moments I truly cherish. Looking at these pics
brings a flood of happiness to my soul

Ontha and Katly can turn a gloomy day into total bliss

Phumi, in these glasses, gets me smiling from ear-to-ear

Most conversations with my mom are like this. She ALWAYS makes me laugh.

FAMILY! You just can't do without them. *Love them dearly*

Moments when all I can think of is vintage...

.....vintage...

....vintage....

.....vintage....

....oh and more vintage.....

These christmas lights near Bond station are breath-taking!

My nephew is 5 going on 30. A real extrovert, he never ceases to amaze me.
He came up with his own song while playing the guitar...

...and decided he had had enough, so he took a nap.

South African art. This piece I saw (at Sharpville's arts exhibition) is really
cleverly thought out and effortlessly eye-catching. Love it *10 points*

Yet another South African art piece. ''Deep-Rooted'' is a multi-faceted brand, which
caters to design, entertainment and art. This was the first time I was shown how they print
their amazing t-shirts.

...bursting with joy...

My most radical expressions...

Visiting the Queens residence. This is me and Tina at the Buckingham Palace

I have never dressed up for halloween back at home. This was a first and our theme was ''Sad Brides''

Meeting new people and making new friends :)

I see squirrels almost everyday now (which is also a first) but
seeing this man feed a squirrel was the most mind-boggling thing I had ever seen

Catching a night movie at the tower bridge...EPIC

Everyone who visits London finds it a must-do to take a pic in
the red telephone booth.

Playing...just good old playing...

When our jogs turn into play...

When we meet a super model...

Grade 1 to 12...seeing how quickly the years pass by...

Vintage Love

Adding a touch of the much needed ''in with the old, out with the new'' is vital for me.
Here are a couple of reasons why my love for vintage is forever blossoming...

You can never go wrong with the classic LBD...

The art work was and still is phenomenal...

There's always something exciting to discover and you
can be sure that you're the only person in possession of it...

Good old lovin....

Hats stay intact...

Antiques are timeless, they're gorgeous today, tomorrow
and forever ....

The clothes are simply subliminal. The no-gimmicks approach to this
(Christian Dior 1947 creation)
jacket make it timeless and forever ''new''....

(Rahvis London 1947)
Elegance was always encapsulated in womens clothes...

I saw these interesting signs at Portabello market, which carries a wealth of
vintage clothes, artifacts, furniture, crockery and many more....

Gorgeous clocks (at portabello market)

This store (at portabello market) had a range of crockery, cutlery
and many classic pieces which transported me to a zeitgeist which best
describes me :)

The cars were quite strong back then. This Dodge seems to have
survived the toughest of times...LOVE IT!

The music is forever green...

Everyone stopped for a picture of this Merc...*10 points*

Opulance, opulance, opulance. Back then, finding the ''wow-factor''
could come as easy as turning your head...

Look of the day

On my way home from school, today, I see this gorgeous lady, clad in all-things-vintage and my heart smiled from corner-to-corner.
I love how she paired her white stockings and floral dress with brodgues.
They add an androgynous touch to her oufit.

What best lit up my heart was how her look was vintage, in its entirety.
From hair-do to shoe.

DRESSES I LOVE

Growing up, I was never a fan of dresses. In fact I dreaded them. However, with the mother I have I never got away too easy with my excuses of staying away from them. I felt it was more practical to be in a t-shirt and jeans, which I had a tendency of placing really low. I always looked half-done to say the least.
Like the saying goes...''Life is full circle'' I happen to find my love for dresses at an ultimate high.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE DRESSES...

I love the sleeves on this dress. Its simple, yet very elegant.

I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it. The beaded neck-line gives it a fine finish.

When I saw this dress, I thought it was a top. Its a skimpy little thing.
Just had to try it on.

This dress, stayed at the back of my wardrobe for years on end, until a high vintage-pitch hit me.

So I decided to get it altered and gave it a go.

I can never get enough of this dress (worn by Coleen) Its so chic, timeless and just plain gorgeous.

This dress has a waist which begins under the torso, very retro. I love the fit and simplicity
of the dress.

A definite show stopper! Katly (very good friend of mine) looks absolutely bellisima in this
little red number.

The floral pattern of the dress and its fairy-like lightness make it a pleasure to wear.

I've been mentioning simplicity a lot..this dress is SIMPLY SUBLIMINAL. I love it!!

Ontha (very good friend of mine)was clad in this mind-blowing dress and killer heels (which cant be seen in the pic) for her matric dance. A truly delicate debutant :) *10 POINTS*

Vivaciously Vintage!! Love, Love, Love Phumi's look. Very elegant

Mother picked this one for me...

Before this dress came into my possession, it was a top which belonged to my aunt.

When I saw this dress, I just thought: wings, wings, wings

I spotted these two vintage-godesses at camden market (for an older blog post on Street-Style).
They carried themselves with such flair and are 101% devoted to vintage. They looked dashing in their elegant ensembles.
